> Tennessee Nutrition and Consumer Education Program

TNCEP is a nutrition education program for Tennessee families who receive Food Stamps or who are eligible for Food Stamps. The goal of TNCEP is to teach families how to choose and prepare nutritionally adequate diets and help them feel empowered to move toward self-sufficiency. Families are taught how to use Food Stamps and related resources effectively.


 
> Walk Across Tennessee

Walk Across Tennessee is an 8-week walking program for teams of eight people. The teams will have a friendly competition to see who can log the most miles walking, jogging, biking, dancing or other types of physical activity.


 
> Tennessee Shapes Up

Tennessee Shapes Up is a series of lessons (usually taught twice a week for eight weeks). Although appropriate for anyone, the lessons target adults. Class time includes instruction as well as a group activity, such as walking.
 
> Master Your Body

By doing ten enjoyable, “no equipment necessary,” body weight exercises, you gain the freedom to enjoy physical activity, lose the constant fear of injury, and drop some serious fat. In 15 to 30 minutes, you can get fit, fight fat and have fun. Exercise machines are only equipment – your body is the machine.

 
> Tai Chi for Health

Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation is designed for individuals with or without, arthritis, rheumatic diseases or related musculoskeletal conditions primarily characterized by diffuse muscle pain, decreased muscle strength and fatigue.
 
> Girl Talk

The Girl Talk curriculum was designed to bring mother and daughters together in a fun and relaxed environment to learn about sexuality. The goal of the Girl Talk program is to encourage healthy discussion within the family about sexuality, values and decision-making.
 
> Babysitting Course

One day workshop where participatns practice changing diapers, making healthy snacks, and creating their very own babysitter’s magic bag.
 
> Child Care Provider Workshops

> The Safe Side

UT Extension has developed a program to help parents, educators and children address stranger-danger and internet safety issues.

 
> Tennessee Saves

University of Tennessee Extension, working with other state and national organizational partners, has launched a comprehensive statewide program to help Tennesseans save and build wealth. Through financial and savings education, the objectives of the Tennessee Saves program include building and protecting wealth, planning for a secure financial future, paying down debt, and protecting against financial fraud.


 
> On My Own

On My Own is a hands-on, real-life simulation that gives young people the opportunity to experience their futures in a fun and exciting way. They are encouraged to make healthy and wise lifestyle choices similar to those adults face on a daily basis.

> Effective Co-Parenting

Tennessee has one of the highest divorce rates in the U.S. Because divorce is so common, it may seem like adjustment to divorce has become easier for everyone involved. In reality, divorce is hard for all family members, especially children. Because of concerns about the negative impact of divorce on children, the Tennessee State Legislature passed a law requiring divorcing parents of minor children to attend a parent education program.
